M&E Project Engineer

(Facilities Management / Semiconductor Manufacturing Plants)

Position Summary

The M&E Project Engineer will support the execution, coordination, and supervision of Mechanical & Electrical projects and maintenance activities at customer facilities, particularly within semiconductor manufacturing plants and critical environments.

The role requires strong technical knowledge in HVAC and M&E systems, good coordination skills, and the ability to manage site activities, contractors, and project documentation while ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Coordination

Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing M&E projects and maintenance activities.
Monitor project progress and ensure works are carried out according to schedule and specifications.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
Prepare project schedules, progress reports, work permits, and documentation.
Attend site meetings and assist in project coordination activities.
Monitor material delivery, manpower deployment, and site activities.

HVAC & Technical Support

Provide technical support for HVAC and ACMV systems including:
- Chillers
- AHU/FCU systems
- VRV/VRF systems
- Cooling towers
- Ventilation and exhaust systems
- Cleanroom HVAC systems
Assist in troubleshooting M&E system issues and implementing corrective actions.
Support testing, commissioning, and preventive maintenance activities.
Review technical drawings, method statements, and engineering specifications.

Site Supervision

Supervise technicians and subcontractors to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with project requirements.
Ensure works are executed safely and according to approved procedures.
Monitor daily site activities and update project progress.
Support shutdown works, preventive maintenance, and emergency response activities when required.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with OSHA/DOSH requirements, safety procedures, and client EHS regulations.
Participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and risk assessments.
Ensure proper permit-to-work procedures are followed at site.
Maintain proper project and maintenance records.

Client Support

Maintain good working relationships with customers and project stakeholders.
Respond to customer technical concerns and site coordination requirements.
Support preparation of quotations, technical proposals, and project documentation where required.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Building Services Engineering
- Facilities Engineering
- Or related engineering field

Experience

Minimum 2–5 years of working experience in:
- M&E projects
- HVAC maintenance/services
- Facilities management
- Industrial or semiconductor facilities
Fresh graduates with strong technical knowledge and positive attitude may also be considered for junior positions.

Technical Competencies

Basic to intermediate knowledge in HVAC and ACMV systems.
Good understanding of:
- Mechanical & Electrical systems
- Building services
- Fire protection systems
- BMS systems
- Cleanroom environments
Ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Familiar with Microsoft Office and basic project documentation.

Preferred Certifications (Added Advantage)

CIDB Green Card
NIOSH Safety Certification
Chargeman Certificate
AutoCAD knowledge

Good communication and coordination skills.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Responsible, proactive, and willing to learn.
Able to work independently and in a team environment.
Willing to travel to customer sites when required.
