SHIFT CHARGEMAN AO/A1

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out shift-based operation and monitoring of electrical and M&E facilities systems.
• Operate and monitor electrical distribution systems, switchboards, LV panels, transformers and associated equipment within the scope of competency.
• Conduct routine inspections and record operating parameters of electrical equipment.
• Monitor Building Management System (BMS), alarms and equipment status where applicable.
• Respond promptly to electrical alarms, equipment faults and facility breakdowns.
• Carry out first-line troubleshooting and corrective actions for electrical-related issues.
• Escalate major electrical faults and critical incidents to the BO Chargeman / Facilities Operations Lead.
• Assist with electrical switching, isolation and restoration activities as authorised.
• Ensure proper implementation of Permit-to-Work (PTW) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Carry out preventive maintenance activities according to the approved maintenance schedule.
• Assist technicians and contractors during maintenance and repair activities.
• Monitor contractors carrying out electrical maintenance works during the assigned shift.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
• Maintain accurate shift logs, equipment readings, incident reports and maintenance records.
• Conduct proper shift handover and communicate outstanding issues to the incoming shift team.
• Attend to emergency situations and assist in the implementation of emergency response procedures.
• Ensure electrical rooms, plant rooms and equipment areas are kept clean, safe and accessible.
• Report abnormal equipment conditions and potential risks before they develop into major failures.
• Support statutory inspection, testing and certification activities when required.
• Perform other electrical and facilities-related duties assigned by the BO Chargeman / Facilities Manager.
  

Requirements

• Valid Chargeman AO or A1 competency certificate recognised by Suruhanjaya Tenaga.
• Certificate/Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant electrical/facilities maintenance experience.
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, commercial or other critical facilities is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of LV electrical distribution systems and electrical equipment.
• Able to carry out electrical troubleshooting and first-line fault finding.
• Good understanding of electrical safety procedures, PTW and LOTO.
• Responsible, disciplined and safety-conscious.
• Able to work independently during assigned shifts.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willing to work on a shift basis, including weekends and public holidays according to the site roster.
  

Advantageous

• Experience working in a semiconductor or high-technology manufacturing facility.
• Experience in an Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) environment.
• Additional electrical competencies or relevant Suruhanjaya Tenaga certifications.
• Knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, fire protection or building services.
• Experience using CMMS/BMS or other digital facilities management systems.
• First Aid, OSH or other relevant safety certification.
